In Loving Memory of Roy MacMillan
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Roy MacMillan, age 76, on April 5th, 2024. Roy was one of the driving forces behind Sherwood Ice Arena. He has left an undeniable legacy that will forever resonate within our community.
Roy was part of a team that purchased the rink in 2019, together, they realized a dream of providing a space where individuals could come together and create lasting memories.
Roy was often seen with his beloved companion, Reece, by his side, a bond that brought warmth and camaraderie to the rink. Their presence was synonymous with the spirit of Sherwood Ice Arena, and we will dearly miss seeing the pair together.
Roy leaves behind a son and extended family that spans all the way to Canada. Their loss is deeply felt, and our thoughts and prayers are with them during this difficult time.
In reflecting on Roy's contributions, we remain steadfast in our commitment to upholding his legacy at Sherwood Ice Arena. Together, let us honor Roy's vision by providing a space where individuals of all ages can cultivate a love for skating and community. May his memory continue to inspire us as we move forward with dignity and respect.
We plan to celebrate Roy’s life on Sunday, May 19 from 1:30-3:30pm at the Sherwood Ice Arena.

Bad Weather Policy
Updates concerning weather and scheduling will always be made FIRST on this website and social media, including Facebook and Instagram. All hockey games will be played as scheduled as long as SIA is open. There will be NO make-up hockey games, hockey credits, or refunds. Rink staff and officials will make every effort possible to have the rink open as long as conditions are deemed safe. Also, the Hockey Director will contact each team's player rep to inform them of the pending closure of the rink ahead of time.
Should the rink need to close for any other reason, then rink management will post any cancellation of games on the homepage of our website. (extremely rare)

Assumption of Risk and Release: I am aware that ice skating involves inherent risks, dangers and hazards which can result in serious personal injury or death. I hereby freely assume and accept any and all known and unknown risks of injury while skating at this ice arena and release the owner, it's management company, their affiliates, subsidiaries, successors, and the signs from any liability whatsoever for bodily injury or property damage resulting from any negligent acts and emissions in the design, operation, supervision and maintenance of the ice arena.
