Sherwood Ice Arena is looking for Customer Service person who might be interested in working PT weekends, 15-17 hours a week (two shifts). Part of their duties would be to drive the Zamboni once trained. The two shifts would be every Saturday and Sunday. Probably a morning shift on Saturday starting at 6am and a mid day shift on Sunday starting at noon..... Opportunity to advance to larger role with additional shifts in the future. Job Qualifications; This position requires
Proven leadership ability
The ability to climb/step up onto the Zamboni
Strong communication skills
The ability to lift up to 50lbs
Minimum High school diploma or equivalent
Valid Oregon driver’s license
Mature adults encouraged to apply
Specialized training may be necessary to build up skills for the operation of the Zamboni, skate sharpener, cash register, and floor scrubbing machines.
Arena Supervisors are responsible for those tasks necessary to supervise and oversee daily operations. With the Attendant staff, the Arena Supervisor works to maintain cleanliness, sanitation and safety of the facility. Supervisor performs and supervises routine custodial and general maintenance - primarily in the public use areas. He/She operates Zamboni and related preparations to keep the ice clean, safe, and on schedule. Supervisor is also in charge of skate sharpening while on duty as well as following cash control and closing procedures and other tasks as assigned. The Supervisor will heavily interact with the public, so a customer Service background is a must!
Sherwood Ice Arena is the premier ice skating facility in the Portland area. With daily public sessions, six adult hockey leagues, a first class figure skating and learn to skate program, we are a busy and vibrant athletic arena.
Qualified candidates will be at least 21 years of age, have a valid Oregon driver’s license. Previous supervisory experience is preferred. This job requires a quick learner, a strong work ethic, maturity, self-motivation, and the willingness to work intimately with the Public. Opening shifts generally run from 6am till noon. Mid-Day Shift generally work form noon till 7pm. Ice maintenance requires patience, attention to detail, and a fair amount of manual labor. Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
Salary: $14.00 to $14.50 /hour
